FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

General Questions

Are there additional fees to the advertised wedding packages?

Not included in the offer are gratuities for service providers and Fed Ex shipping costs for documents. Beach permit fees are not included in the advertised package price and apply where applicable. The sales tax will be calculated on the invoice and is not included in the advertised price. There are no other additional fees.

What is the sales tax rate?

The sales tax rate is 7% in our county and will apply to services directly provided by us. Outside services, businesses, or vendors located in other counties may have different sales tax rates.

Are prices fixed upon booking?

Yes, our prices are fixed at the time of reservation. Price differences can arise when additional services are added at a later time.

May I deduct services included in packages that I will not need?

Yes, all wedding packages can be customized. However, once a service is booked you will lose the deposit if you choose not to keep the service.

Can you hold a wedding date without a confirmed booking?

No, unfortunately, we can not hold a date without your confirmed booking. We generally book only one wedding per day and have to have a signed contract and payment from you to block a date. We can hold dates for up to one week without obligation but give no guarantees. Couples may reserve a date without choosing a wedding package. You can hold a date and we guarantee our availability for a payment of $450 that will be deducted from the total wedding cost once a wedding package is chosen.

How many weddings and events do you have per year?

This is a tough one! We have had over 100 events a year and under 50. We average approx. 70 weddings, vow renewals, and proposals combined.

Can I get access to the catalog before booking a wedding?

Although we would love to do this, access to the catalog will only be given to confirmed bookings. The catalog is designed to give couples further ideas and access to services that can be added to the already booked package.

What if it rains?

If you are planning an outdoor wedding we monitor the weather closely. Depending on your flexibility and other service providers involved we will do our best to try to reschedule the ceremony time if necessary the day before the wedding. Very small weddings are usually not a problem and we can also often just wait out a bit,  if a thunderstorm is approaching. Some beaches have covered pavilions that possibly can be used as a backup. It usually never rains long in Florida but it does happen. If you booked your ceremony and reception at a Resort or facility there might be a backup option in place that we can use. Otherwise, you have to pre-book a backup and pay for it, even if it is not needed in the end. In extreme cases, we can also offer to reschedule, but a new date has to be within a few days and all vendors and permits have to be checked prior to making this decision. It is therefore important that this decision is made at least 24 hours before the wedding. We have been offering couples to pre-book our availability on a possible postponement date. This is usually the day before or after the planned wedding date. This will guarantee you we are not booking anything else on that day and are 100% available for postponement.

When is the best time for a beach wedding in Florida?

We plan beach and outdoor weddings all year long. But summers are extremely hot and humid. In the months of August through September, we are also in the height of the hurricane season. If you have to plan your outdoor wedding during summertime in Florida, ceremony times have to be either early morning or evenings shortly before sunset. Probably the best time for an outdoor wedding is spring, late autumn, and winter.

Questions about Legalities

How will I get my documents?

For US couples we ship your certified copy of your marriage certificate to your home address with regular USPS. All couples that reside outside the US will receive their documents including Apostilles via Fed Ex. Why? Mail can get easily lost and we are unable to track letters send with the USPS outside the US. Fed Ex charges are not included in the wedding package and will be billed once we have all your documents ready for shipment.

How long will documents take?

We have your certified copy usually the week after the wedding took place. We also offer express registration and hand-deliver the license to the Clerk of Court. There is an additional fee for express registration. Couples that also need an Apostille will have approx. another 4 weeks until all documents have been received by us and are ready to ship.

I have a business account with another carrier, can I use my mailing service?

Yes, but the packaging, labeling,  pick up and payment has to be initiated by you.

Is express filing available for Apostilles?

Yes, but we also have to express file your Florida marriage certificate and this is only possible if the license has been processed through us. It can still take 2 -3 weeks after the wedding until you receive the document. Express filing fees for both documents will apply.

Is there a way to get the Apostille within a few days?

Yes, you would have to hand-deliver the certified copy of your marriage certificate to the State of Secretary in Tallahassee. Walk-ins receive the document immediately. However, we would also have to express record the marriage and you would have to pick up the certified copy in our office. This is only an option if the license was filed with us.

What documents do we need to apply for a license?

Please refer to our marriage license by mail information. Read More

Questions about Booking

How can I book a wedding with you?

Once you decided on a package we will send you our invoice with payment instructions and our contract. We ask for a 50% payment towards the selected wedding package. This will hold the date and all services included in the package with a price guarantee.  The exception is if you are only holding a date or other payment arrangements have been prior agreed on. The remaining payments are due 30 days before your wedding date.

Do you offer a payment plan?

Yes, we can arrange a payment plan for weddings and services provided directly by us.

What payment options do you have?

We take all major credit cards or Paypal Payments. We also accept US money orders, cash, or Western Union and bank transfers.

Can I book my own vendors?

Yes, you can book services on your own behalf. But it is imperative that we know about this so no confusion arises the day of the wedding. Contracting, schedules, and all details have to be planned by the customer.

How long in advance do I have to book my wedding?

This entirely depends on how flexible you will be with the date, location, services, and the size of your event. We can arrange last-minute weddings within a day or two if no decoration, outside services or flowers, are requested.  Couples also have to apply for their license in person at any Clerk of Court in Florida. If a specific date is important to you, and you are arriving with guests, have a reception and need more detailed planning we recommend a year in advance. Most beaches, gardens, or chapels, where permits are necessary we usually need at least a month prior. Some locations will charge extra for permits filed less than a month or not accept them at all. Overall it is always better to book early enough to keep stress levels low and have adequate time to plan your special day.
